We are two pro clowns who live in a 1922 bungalow in Portland Oregon. Every few days people from around the world come through and stay in the rooms. We clowns can ignore them or be very helpful. We don't own the house but we do love it. Sometimes we become "single serving friends" having adventures with the guests. People ask if we work here. Nope we are just the clowns who live in the attic.

I'm right handed ...
but I had to learn to eat goofy footed because Olive Rootbeer's version of "intimate meal" is very intimate (all up in my biddness every day).
I didn't mind acquiring the new skill, I like hug-munching too.
Hope ya got some laughs from this blog

I get gifted remnants of the pot safaris
When the guests leave they often give me the remainder of their weed (and lighters) that they bought. Can't take it on the plane. Bummer.
I know it sounds like a boon for Dingo (it is, they saves me a lot of money)
but I'm not all about me. I want them to keep their stuff.
I want them to take it home and show the red states how green our thumbs are here.
They tell me how back home, herb is treated like it's a hard drug. It's a big part of filling those private prison cells.
:) Last night a couple from Kansas gave me this little can o goodies and a bunch of joints.
Deelighted. I threw it in the pile with the rest of them.
Pretty sweet perk but I do wish they could take their stuff home.
Then late last night I dipped into it and realized...whooo, this is kind of strong.
I like a head change but I'm never a fan of being intoxicated.
I'm all about the neighborhood homegrown so I gotta remember to read the labels.
People on weed safari get the real fire. I guess that's why they never finish it.
Hope ya got some laughs from this blog

Brujia trying weed for the first time
Another single serving friendship in the can.
We just dropped our new friend off at the airport and soon she will be back with her husband in Korea.

She has been married 2 years and told us she is very independent.
Married life has made her less independent so she took a solo trip to the USA to get her self-power on.
She picked Portland-town because she read we are weird here and won't diss her for expressing herself.
The first few days she took herself out to great food and drinks.
Then she got to know the clowns better. We hit it off (like we do).
We had a late night together playing cards with my daughter then this morning when I asked her what she planned to do today she said "Go with you I think."
I'm really impressed with her English.
It's a struggle around the clowns since we use lots of slang, jargon and double speak.
I was also impressed with her Spanish. Her nickname back home is "Lil Brujia". She has some Latinos in her neighborhood and she said Spanish words as well as I do.
Last night she asked me to translate her Spanish, Korean name into Scandinavian runes. That was funny.
L.B. went to our gig with us today, rocked out a bit and enjoyed the shops.
On the way home I pointed out a pot shop and told her that's where Marijuana is sold. Her eyes lit up. "I wanna try that. I wanna tell my husband I tried that he will be so jealous."
I was enjoying hearing her say the word Marijuana in perfect Spanish. As long as she kept talking I was happy to share. I rolled a joint and packed a bowl. I forgot she had zero backstory about how to puff out so I lit and handed over the doobie first.
She sat there drawing on it over and over. She never got the memo that you typically pass it after a few hits.
Then she just sat there puffing and experiencing.
Finally she passed it over, crushed and more than half over. The pipe was challenging too but she did it up like a champ.
We were worried that she could have a bad reaction so we were watching her carefully. She was fine. She liked the sensation and we liked that she finally got her political on. After the smoke sesh she was happy to talk about climate, global economy, our two countrys etc.
We talked so long she was almost late for the plane. We offered to take her to the airport.
As we got close to the airport she asked for the windows to be rolled down. She wanted to breathe as much clean Portland air as she could before she went home where the air is very contaminated (by China).
She also wanted to breathe in the last air of her vacation. She said she will never forget us. I asked her to name her children after us. Just then something in the road ahead burst into flames. Smoke was pouring over the road."Stop breathing in Portland. Roll the window back up quick!" Portland is ironic as well as weird.
Little Brujia showed no adverse effects from the ganja and made it to her gate on time.
We had a strong goodbye, goodluck to our single serving friend. Before she left she asked if her room was having guests tonight.
Olive "Yep, new single serving friends are already there by now."

because science
A guest noticed me removing the full wastebasket from a recently vacated room.
"I didn't know you work here."
me: "I don't."
"then what are you doing?"
me:"Archaeology."
I was actually just helping out but I like answering questions in ways that create more questions.

Some people came.
Some folks came from somewhere else. We interacted with them.
I'm not writing about the encounter because as luck would have it, nothing eventful or interesting happened.
They were boring, we were boring,
Usually the stars don't line up like that.
I'm choosing to savor this.
Hope ya got some laughs from this blog

Middle age Japanese couple like my bike lights
Yes! These folks liked us. They gave our house a lovely review.
This lovely couple were quiet until I got on my bike. They got really animated when they saw the dancing lights. Afterward they presented me with this very lovely cloth. I quickly made it into a headband and felt as formal as these cats carry themselves.
The lady laughed politely as the man pulled the cloth from my head and demonstrated that it was a dish towel.
I love my gift dish towel.

Austin Metrotexan...yeah I made that word up.
Austin in the house.
Last week we met a couple from my home state.
I hit it off with the fellow right away as he had just been on a pot safari all over town. Yes! we had something to talk about right off.
The two of us sat in the dark on the front porch for hours, watching the people walk by, smelling the flowers and talking about our favorite places in Austin.

It was great to talk to a metro-texan. That made it easier to tell him about places in town he would like and how to navigate.
One of my favorite attributes of Austin is something that can be found many places in Texas.
The smell of pecan trees and river rocks...and dirt.
Those smells have been intoxicating to me my whole life.
I was pleased to hear about the Austin bike scene and the happinin' things going on there.
He gave me the lay of the land since my Austin expieriences. My referenced were dated (1990s).
Austin is a magical place to me because I was never there in bad company.
I was always with people I adored so I see the place as a gem in my mind.
The last day for the Texans came. We were filming something out front as we said goodbye.
We are single serving friends who hung out in the dark porch I had no idea what the dude looked like nor he, me.
We had only sat in the dark roasting bowls and talking about his life. My life never really came up.
It was funny seeing him in the light and realizing he didn't look anything like who my imagination thought he looked like (close but no cookie),
He was surprised too with wide eyes
"What are you doing on that huge frikkin bike!!!???"

where is the tv?
Lady from the mid-west is here with her son.
Every face she makes looks like she is looking at a car accident.
I'm not holding it against her.
She doesn't owe me anything.
We were playing Dungeons and Dragons
at the livingroom table as she explored the whole house.
She finally came to the table and asked
"Where is the TV? There isn't a single TV in the house."
We all looked at each other comfortable in the fact that we are fascinating enough.
"Sorry Mam, we're good."
She was the first bad review.
She thought we were loud and had no TV.

Perfect freebox season. Hey hustlers. This is the time to hit up those free boxes.
Portland just started Spring cleaning and treasure abounds. Olive found this nice pile to hide in.
We got great freeboxes year round but this is the best time because usually all the stuff gets soaked in rain.
I would be doing this classic hustle but I don't have room for stuff.
If not I would get several garage sales worth of loot and stow it away for July. We used to do the same thing with giant dumpsterdiving troves.
No excuse to be broke if ya got some time, space and initiative.
Rock on Happy Hunting.

You rock Radio cab.
We had a German newsreader staying with us.
She managed to befriend Olive and asked her to help arrange a 4 am cab to the airport.
She gave Olive all the deets in broken English and Olive made the call.
Radio cab was so nice to Olive.
I could hear the radio cab lady telling Olive "4am is only a few hours so get some sleep ok?" Olive said she would and she did.
Thanks Radio cab.

We got home today soaked and face melted after rocking a party appearance.
We could have worn raincoats but we purposely don't. When folks in traffic see us drenched in bad weather they lose their minds.
People honk, yell and encourage us the entire commute. Normally they only do that for most of our commute.
It's a profound delight to make those folks so happy.
We do pick our moments and do this sparingly.
The gear and threads can only take so many torrents.
Also this is how George Washington died.
He got sick after a long horse ride in the rain. We ain't going down like that.
All warm and dry now.
Hope you are too.

Leaving the house is always fun when my boy is around.
He is 12. Old enough to be home alone.
I tell him,
"Olive and I are going to the hardware store, Be back soon. You are in charge."
Then I give him extended instructions.
"Guard the house with your life, if you die,
then my bike is in charge,
if the tallbike perishes then my guitar is third in command."
By now he is grinning as he asks what if the guitar dies.
"No problem, We will be back by then Sport, thanks for looking out."
We take sentry duty real serious around here.

Eavesdropping on my boy
My son is having a sleepover with his fellow 12 year old, a dude called "Skunk"".
Last night they suddenly stopped before ascending the stairs and my boy says "Skunk, do you smell a real skunk?
He replied "I do but the chances of a real skunk being in this house is remote at best. I think it's Marijeewanna. The scent is virtually identical."
They were standing next to my coat.
I wanted to disagree but if it smells like a skunk...
